What you’ll love – and hate – about pregnancy

Being pregnant is a big chapter in your life, but we’ll be honest: not all of it’s sunshine and rainbows. There are times when you’ll find that you could be pregnant forever and times when you’ll hate it.

One of the most amazing parts of being pregnant is when you get to feel those little kicks. You may not realize what they are at first because they kind of feel like little butterflies, but eventually you and your partner will be able to see flips and kicks from over your clothing. It’s a feeling that can’t be described, and as a soon-to-be mother, it’s something that you’ll carry with you forever.

If you’re still in the early stages of pregnancy, you may not realize all of the changes your body is about to go through. You will inevitably need to complain at some point in the next nine months. Whether it’s because you’re having a major food craving for a combination of macaroni and cheese with barbecue sauce and can’t have it, or your pregnancy hormones are simply in high gear, there will be instances when you’ll need to vent. Your friends and family members will have no problems with you letting out your frustrations.

The anticipation of giving birth is a moment you’ll be looking forward to. The pain of it won’t compare to the moment when you get to hold your newborn.

The not-so-fun side of pregnancy

Of course not all of the bad parts include being miserable; they’re more or less little annoyances that you’ll be glad are over.

There will come a point in your pregnancy where all of your organs will be smashed into a tiny region that’s supposed to only contain your stomach. When this happens, you’ll notice that heartburn is not only uncomfortable, but may even wake you up at night. Waking up in the middle of the night to run to the restroom before you pee your pants is another unpleasant part of being pregnant.

Most women don’t know that morning sickness can return in the third trimester. As if you weren’t miserable enough during the first three months of your pregnancy, it’s back to get you.

When your hormones are wreaking havoc on your emotions and you can crack a smile and even giggle, you’ll probably pee your pants a little bit. The same goes for sneezing and coughing. Don’t be surprised when you get out of the shower only to sneeze, pee on yourself and realize it’s time to start the cleanse all over again.

Your belly will be obnoxiously big much sooner than you think, and that means you won’t be able to see your feet. When you can’t see your feet it’ll be much harder to shave your legs, although at that point you probably won’t feel attractive enough to want to shave them anyway.
