There are a lot of things you should give up when getting ready to become a first time mother, but a great cocktail shouldn’t have to be one of them. You can have your mojito, just without the rum! Here are some awesome mocktail recipes for your next party or special occasion.
Sangria sans wine
What’s more refreshing and ideal for a garden party than sangria? Perhaps sangria, sans wine. The Kitchn has an easy recipe for yummy sangria that serves eight. Here’s what you need:
2 cups of water
2 black tea bags
2 sticks of cinnamon
1/2 cup of sugar
3 cups of pomegranate juice
1 cup of orange juice
1 thinly sliced orange
1 thinly sliced lemon
1 thinly sliced lime
1 cored apple, cut into chunks
3 cups of carbonated water
Bring the water to a boil before adding the tea bags and cinnamon and allowing the mixture to steep for five minutes. Then, toss the tea bags and mix in the sugar. Once the sugar has dissolved, pour the mixture into a large pitcher and add the juices and fruit. The source recommended that you keep it in the refrigerator overnight, but it should be cool after an hour. Add the carbonated water immediately before serving!
To make this mocktail extra delicious, pour it over ice cubes that have mint frozen in.
Virgin cosmo
HGTV recommended this tasty cosmopolitan recipe for four so you can get your “Sex and the City” on without the alcohol.
1 1/4 cups of water
1/4 cup of honey
6 hibiscus tea bags
1 lime
1/2 cup of coconut water
2 cups of lemon-lime soda
First, boil the water with the honey until the honey has dissolved. Then add the tea bags and allow the mixture to steep for four minutes before ditching the tea bags and allowing it to cool. Once it’s cooled, pour the mixture over 1 cup of ice in a cocktail shaker. Juice the lime, then pour that and the coconut water on top of the tea before shaking it up.
Pour the mocktail into the glasses before topping it with the soda and serving.
Nojito
Tasty and refreshing minus the empty carbs, what’s not to love about a mojito with no alcohol? Nojitos are the perfect way to end the summer on a delicious note. This recipe from Fabulous Foods serves one, but double it up to serve a buddy or two from prenatal yoga.
1 cup of crushed ice
8 mint leaves
3 ounces of lime juice
1 1/2 ounce of sugar syrup
2 ounces of club soda
Fill a pint glass with the crushed ice before adding the mint leaves. Crush the leaves gently with a muddle stick or wooden pestle, doing your best not to tear the leaves. Next, add the lime juice and stir the mixture slightly so that the leaves don’t remain solely on top. Add the club soda and sugar syrup and garnish it with a sprig of mint or lime wedge before serving.
