We’re only a few months away from the height of the summer, which means one thing – UV Awareness Month is upon us! Even if you’re due well after July, it’s important to understand how the sun’s rays can affect our little ones over time.

First and foremost, parents should remember that children are more susceptible than adults to the damage caused by UV rays because they spend more outdoors. In fact, the World Health Organization reports that 80 percent of an individual’s exposure to the sun will take place before their 18th birthday.

What does this mean for concerned expectant mamas? Be prepared! Once the warmer weather is here, it’s likely you’ll want to get some fresh air while enjoying the company of your new arrival. Aside from making use of baby sunglasses and other similar accessories, moms might want to head for the shade.

This isn’t meant to scare women into a bad case of agoraphobia, but ladies should remember to be careful. A healthy baby leads to a happy mama!
