7 surprising pregnancy facts you’ll be glad you knew
You think you know what you’re getting into when you find out you’re pregnant. You’ll gain weight, your belly will get bigger and you get an adorable little gift at the end of it all. There’s much more to it all than what you’ve heard, but you’ll be surprised to find out what you can really expect.
Surprising pregnancy facts
Look out for some of these things you may not know about being pregnant:
People like to touch a pregnant belly
You don’t know quite how bothersome it can be until it happens to you. You’ve probably even gone up to some of your friends and family to rub their belly, but when you have one of your own, you’ll find that it feels a little weird. First of all, people are coming up to you, sometimes even strangers, and rubbing your belly.
You’ll pee – a lot
Sure, you know the space for your bladder is going to be filled with a growing baby belly, but you don’t realize just how much until it happens. You’ll find yourself waking up at 1 a.m. to go to the bathroom, then again a couple of hours later.
Your boobs will get weird
From milky discharge, or colostrum, to sensitivity, you’ll find your boobs are being pretty strange.
You can’t always prevent stretch marks
It doesn’t matter how much cream or lotion you put on, stretch marks are sometimes inevitable. Even with daily rituals of applying lotion, you’ll find that your stomach is eventually going to pop and stretch marks will probably show up. But instead of looking at them as a bad thing, look at them as mommy scars that remind you of the journey to your little bundle of joy. However, if they do bother you, just remember that they’ll fade over time.
You won’t be able to eat everything
When you find out you’re pregnant, you immediately have to make changes to your diet. Not only do you have to add prenatal vitamins, but you can no longer drink alcohol or coffee or consume sushi, soft cheeses or even Caesar dressing.
It’ll feel like morning sickness never ends
During the early parts of your pregnancy, morning sickness will feel like it’s ruining your life and it’s never going to stop. The nauseous feelings will subside but may last into your second trimester.
Having your privates poked won’t bother you
It may seem like an invasion of space at first, but by the end of it all you’ll find that it doesn’t really phase you to have doctors looking at and probing your private parts. It happens so much throughout your pregnancy that it almost feels normal by the time you deliver.
