Kendra Smith– Editor at Large
A Bay Area native who left only to pursue a magazine journalism degree at the University of Oregon—and to travel the world, of course—Kendra has edited everything from canning recipes (during her stint at Sunset Publishing) to plans for a revolving tanning gazebo (for Readymademagazine). In her spare time, she writes freelance travel articles, studies non-toxic skin care, and cooks from scratch. She knows a lot of Spanish; a little Italian; and couldn’t live without her vacation savings account, SPF 15, dark chocolate, a good tomato knife, and comfortable shoes. Oh, and her husband. Kendra also has two stepsons, one in high school and the other in college.
Abigail Tuller – Editor at Large
Abigail Tuller grew up in Rochester, NH, and is the youngest of five children. At the age of 14, her first job was babysitting Katie and Jennifer Schmidt. Her overzealous love for responsibility quickly found her a gig as cashier at Rich’s Department Store and eventually a much sought-after position behind the deli counter at Shop N’ Save. Upon graduating from high school, Abigail set her sights on the “deep south” of Long Island and Hofstra University. After four years of culture shock among the big hair and long nails of the sorority Sigma Delta Tau and weekly weigh-ins as a member of the cheerleading squad, Abigail received her bachelor’s degree in communication arts with a double minor in English and French. In 1991, intoxicated by the din of New York City, she began her editing career as an editorial assistant. Seventeen years later, she’s held top-level positions at several magazine publishers, including Cherry Lane Magazines, Miller Sports Group, and General Media. With an editorial background ranging from music to sports and fitness, Abigail has finally found her dream job. She’s happily married and the mother of two active boys, Mason, 5, and Rex, 3. Abigail can’t live without decaf coffee and tea, The New Yorker, dark chocolate, leave-in conditioner, nice PJs, and her kids’ artwork.
Michelle Lee – Products Editor
As Products Editor for Pregnancy Magazine, Michelle enjoys reviewing the latest and greatest baby and toddler products to hit the market. With two little ones of her own, she has firsthand, in-depth experience with a wide array of juvenile products as well as ready help from her junior reviewers in testing everything from strollers to toys. Her background in Engineering and Product Design lend to an appreciation for well-designed products that are solidly constructed and created with the end consumer in mind.
Paul Banas – Publisher
Paul is a work-at-home dad who also publishes GreatDad.com, a parenting website geared to dads. As a big believer in the importance of families for energy, poetry, and laughs, since having two kids, his mission has been to help promote active parenting by both moms and dads. Paul lives in San Francisco with his wife and two kids. He loves good writing, carpool, baking (and eating) cookies with his daughter, and racing slot cars with his son.
